Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to welcome both our new and returning Cougar Cubs to Sierra Vista Elementary School and to the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

This year, Sierra Vista is starting a new Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) focusing on Cougar Cub PRIDE.  Our Cougar Cubs show PRIDE at school and in our community. They are Prepared, show Respect, Integrity, are Determined Problem Solvers, and show Empathy towards others.  Students are rewarded for showing Cougar Cub PRIDE at school and will go home with a PRIDE slip to share their accomplishments with their families. As a student body, we will celebrate their accomplishments at a morning Cougar Cub Assembly and at Cougar Cub Recess.

Along with supporting students socially, Sierra Vista will continue to teach the Common Core State Standards using technology, best practices, and student engagement.

This summer all students in grades 3-6 who took the state tests last spring, will receive test results. These results will be reviewed and discussed during family nights. As results come in, please feel free to set up an appointment with administration if you would like to discuss the report.

At Sierra Vista, we are also fortunate to have an amazing staff and PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Parents who are wishing to contribute to their student’s class can do so by volunteering in the classroom, helping from home, or even simply by just joining the PTA. Throughout the year, Sierra Vista will be holding many fun events where all families and community members are welcome. We invite you to become involved in your student’s education by attending an event or volunteering in any way.

From time to time, families may have questions or concerns. Please know that our teachers, staff, and administration love to meet with families and we truly desire the very best for every child’s educational and social development. We look forward to an amazing year!
